Eat More Oysters at the New Orleans Oyster Festival

Each year, the New Orleans Oyster Festival gives locals and tourists a chance to celebrate the wonderful benefits of the Louisiana Gulf Oyster with plenty of “fun with seafood,” fantastic live music, cooking demos, contests, local arts and crafts and an all around good time that’s perfect for the entire family! Acme Oyster House is a proud sponsor of the Oyster Festival, and we’re honored to help the Festival’s coastal restoration efforts as well as help further its mission of solidifying the New Orleans French Quarter’s position as the “Oyster Capital of America.”

But to be honest, we’re most excited about hosting the World Oyster Eating Contest on Sunday!! Yep, you heard ‘dat right. The World. Oyster. EATING. Contest! Dozens of contenders compete to see who can consume the most oysters in a mere 8 minutes! Last year, and many years prior, Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas has dominated, taking down 41 dozen raw oysters in that time! Think you can beat her? We’d like to see you try! Join us for some world champion eating and some world class entertainment on the river in New Orleans this weekend! We can’t wait.

Oh, and then there’s all the oyster crafts. You can never have too many oyster crafts in your home. Never…
